I have another one up and running and it's pulling in all the local HDTV quite well. But I expect it to work fine. I'm afraid I haven't got around to putting the antenna up because it's been brutally hot. Summer in Texas.
It is so great it pulls in even a couple of very distant stations. This Terk TV-42 Antenna is great just mount to your dish and it will work Great. I ordered this for a friend even after viewing all the bad reviews but the Phillips Magnavox Mant-910 that I have is so hard to find. And yes you will need to turn off the dish reciever "ONLY" if you are using the antenna coax in on your tv for your dish reciever hook up, If you are using the audio,video input on the tv for your dish reciever hook up and the antenna in coax on your tv for your over air channels then you can leave the dish on and still receive the over air stations with out any problems. This thing is for sure 5 stars for all around performance and price. So I ordered this anyways since the price was right and thinking if it was as half as good as the Phillips it should work for him. And WOW.
This is an Update.If I had it my way I would rate this a minus 5Previous Review: This is the absolute worse piece of junk I have ever purchased. My opinion has not changed. I installed this and had a loss of 75% of my digital signal. I would never recommend this product to anyone.
To receive a signal you do have to have your receiver ON. This one did work but reception was terrible. If you're using this on a dish with FTA this device will eventually fry your FTA Receiver. You will not get a signal if your receiver is off. I don't know how the feed back occurs but after removing the TV-42 Antenna my other box worked fine. It ranks in the category of snake oil.
I can get a better signal from rabbit ears. This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased and it has now cost me the price of two FTA receivers ($400+). What was worse the reception was totally useless. If you are considering this go to your closet and get out a wire hanger, connect it to your TV and you will have a better signal than this piece junk.Update: The Vendor sent out another TV-42 to replace the supposedly defective one.
I have yet to recieve a reponse from seller it has been 5 weeks. Items was shipped not secured in box. Guess I leanered my lesson. Item was broken when recieved. Does not work.
It would loose the satelite signal and try to get it back. The connections on the antenna had rubber coverings that have all split, and this since the end of August, 2006. I suspect water was getting in the connections and causing the signnal problem with dish network. Easy to install but doesn't work very well. Find some other antenna and don't buy this one. I picked up one other station, so still had to use the rabbit ears for 3 stations. The stations I could pick up with rabbit ears were snowy with this and one station I couldn't pick up at all. I have taken the Antenna down as it was causing problems with the dish network signal.
